Officer David Downs

Officer David Downs is currently assigned as the School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Barnstable Intermediate School.  Officer Downs began his law enforcement career in 2002 when he joined the Watertown Police Department as a patrol officer.   He then transferred to the Barnstable Police Department in 2004. 

While working at Barnstable Police Department, Officer Downs has completed multiple in-depth training, most recently SRO training and ALICE training.  Officer Downs is a member of the Barnstable Police Mountain Bike Division, and also served in the Traffic Division.  Officer Downs was an Adopt-A- School Officer for Centerville Elementary for many years prior to becoming the full-time SRO at BIS. 

Officer Downs is a proud father of three school aged children.  In the summer months, his family hosts players for the Cape Cod Baseball League Hyannis Harbor Hawks.
