Seasonal Community Service Officers, Police: **TO BE CONSIDERED, COMPLETION AND SUBMISSION OF THE POLICE APPLICATION, COVER LETTER, AND RESUME ARE REQUIRED***The Barnstable Police Department has openings for ten (10) civilian Seasonal Community Service Officers (CSOs) to commence on or about June 6, 2022 – 40 hours a week throughout season. CSOs are non-sworn, unarmed individuals who perform a variety of non-critical public safety duties in support of police operations, generally in the Main Street, Hyannis business district area. CSOs are assigned to a foot patrol, walking in pairs, observing for criminal activity and suspicious behavior, safety hazards, and individuals needing assistance. Upon observing suspicious activity, CSOs respond according to training, to include requesting sworn officers or medical response, and standing by until arrival. CSOs also assist the Community Impact Unit in its work with target populations, and provide First Aid, to include CPR, AED, and Narcan to individuals needing assistance as necessary and appropriate. CSOs perform various other law enforcement duties of a non-emergency nature as appropriate. While CSOs will primarily be assigned to the Main Street, Hyannis area, they may be assigned to other areas of Town as deemed necessary. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, a high school graduate or obtained a GED, have a valid driver’s license, be certified in CPR and basic First Aid or have the ability to be, and pass the police background investigation. $19.50 hourly, no benefits.
