October 23, 2021 is National Prescription Take Back Day.

The Barnstable Police Department, in partnership with the USDOJ-Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), is participating in the 21st nationwide Medication Collection Day this Saturday 10/23/2021 between the hours of 10:00AM and 2:00PM, at the Barnstable Police Department, 1200 Phinney’s Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
This national event provides an opportunity for the public to surrender pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to local law enforcement for destruction.
The benefits of dropping off your unwanted meds to the Police Department are twofold. First, removing potentially dangerous medications from your home reduces the risk of drugs getting into the wrong hands. Second, prescription and over the counter medications are a source of pollution when they are flushed down the toilet or drain.
For your convenience a medication collection kiosk is available in our Lobby (1200 Phinney’s Lane, Hyannis, MA) for drop off each and every day 24/7.
